Holiday Sugar Cookies
Tis the time of the year to start making sugar cookies and getting creative with decorating! I figured it was a perfect time to share the BEST sugar cookie recipe you will ever make. These cookies have such good flavor that you may want some without frosting. Enjoy!
Ingredients:
- 3 cups all purpose flour – sifted
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 sticks unsalted butter [1 1/2 cups] – room temperature
- 1 1/2 cups white sugar + extra for rolling
- 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
- 2 large eggs
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 375*F and line baking sheets with silicon mat or parchment paper.
- In medium bowl, combine flour, baking powder and salt and set aside.
- Add butter and sugar to stand mixture, mix on medium until butter is creamy and no lumps are remaining, about 5 minutes.
- Turn stand mixture to low, add vanilla let mix for about 30 seconds then add eggs, one at a time. Mix until well combined.
- Keeping mixing speed on low, slowly add flour mixture, scraping sides as needed.
- Place the additional white sugar in a small bowl. Roll dough into golf ball sized mounds and roll each into the sugar to evenly coat. Place cookies on baking sheet evenly spaced out. Gently press each ball flat.
- Bake cookies for 9-11 minutes or until edges are slightly golden and the center appears barely set. Cool on wire racks. Frost with buttercream frosting or cream cheese frosting, enjoy!
