Day 4 & 5 – Cougar Football & Monkeypod

Saturday was projected to be another rainy day so we decided to make it a pool day. My god parents were staying in another condo down the road from us that had a gym, so we went to their complex to play in the pool and allow me some workout time. This workout was my first one in over 2 weeks and boy did I feel it FAST. I did 15 minutes of moderate intensity on the elliptical and then 15 minutes of a full body weight circuit. By the end my legs were shaking and my body was tired, but it felt so good to start moving again.  After my workout I hit the pool with the rest of my family until it was Ayla’s nap time. During her nap I was able to get some uninterrupted reading time in and made my Hawaiian Mac Salad for snacking. The Cougar game started at 4:30pm, so we headed to Moose McGillycuddy’s to watch it. Moose’s is the official WSU Alumni Association watch party location, so it’s always a festive fun time for cougar football. And they won! It was a long, fun day and we all slept really hard.

Sunday my parents arrived on Island! They came over for a hardy breakfast and then it was off to the beach. It was supposed to be a rainy day, but the forecast changed, so we all headed to Keawakapu Beach. This beach has a huge parking lot and is a quick walk to the water. The waves pick up in the afternoon so we knew it was going to be a shorter beach day. While enjoying the sun on our beach we could see the storms hitting the Westside Mountains and hear the thunder booming. Ayla took an almost 2 hour long nap at the beach which made for some great reading time. After she woke, it was time to head back to the condo for a workout and to get ready for dinner at Monkeypod. I had about 30minutes for my workout, so I did a cardio session in my room and AJ & Ayla enjoyed some pool time. The cardio workout kicked my butt, but it felt good to get a major sweat session in. Once ready, we met our group at Monkeypod for the best happy hour and Mai Tai’s on island. We left in time to make it back to our condo to watch a beautiful sunset, and then it was off to bed. Can’t wait for tomorrow’s adventures!
