Day 13 & 14: From Sunrise to “Don’t Make Us Leave!” – Our Last Days on Maui (For Now) [Maui 2025]

It’s our final full day on the island. We spent the early morning packing up and then after breakfast we headed to my favorite beach, Maluaka Beach. This was a perfect beach day, a beach day like no other. The air temperature was perfect and the water was glass, it could have been from a magazine cover, and it stayed like that ALL day. Maui really gave us a beautiful final beach farewell.

After spending most of the day at the beach, we wanted to visit the Maui Ocean Center one last time, so we headed there next. They close at 5pm, and we ended up getting there around 3:30pm, so it was pretty quiet. It was nice to enjoy each exhibit without other onlookers.

After they closed we met my parents at Point Break Pizza for dinner. We loved their pizza and salads with each visit; this will definitely be a must-do on a return trip. We had to go back to Hula Cookies for dessert. It too, was just as yummy as the first time. Next visit though I want to buy some cookies too. We had a really nice last meal with my parents, but it was time to say goodbye and head back to the condo to finish packing.

The next day it was early up and out the door to head to the airport. There was no line at our baggage drop or TSA, so we got through the airport checks quickly. I stopped at Starbucks in the airport for breakfast and we made it to our gate as they were beginning boarding. Our flights back were easy. We had about 2 hours of ‘bumpy road’ over the ocean; it was more of a nuisance than anything. Both flights home Ayla kept asking if this would take her to her ‘puppy home’, she was ready to see them again.

When we got back to Spokane it was very rainy, typical November Spokane weather. When we got home Ayla was extremely happy to see her puppies. She missed Makena a lot, so she got lots of hugs. Benny was happy to see us, but in typical Benny fashion, he went right back to bed after saying his hellos.  Before bed Ayla said she wanted to go school the next day, so we helped her get her bag ready for school before bed and then we hit the ground running right back into our home routine the next day.

It really felt like Maui opened its arms to use and said “welcome home”. It was our best visit to date and we left there knowing we have to go back next year.

Thanks for joining me on this amazing vacation. Mahalo.
