It has been a crazy 48 hours but we made it to the island! Let’s start at the beginning. Sunday night we woke up at 2am to our puppy, Makena, very sick. We were up with her all night until the vet opened. Thankfully they were able to get her in right away. The vet diagnosed her with gastroenteritis, luckily easily treatable and short lived. They gave her an anti-nausea, probiotic and antibiotic and strict instructions for a bland diet. So, the day before we left I was on meal prep mode for her, going over the new instructors with our house/dog sitter and getting us all packed and ready to go. It was a crazy day to say the least!
Then, at 1:50am we were up and off to the airport! Ayla did GREAT getting up early. Our flight from Spokane to Seattle was on time but too turbulent for drink services. But on a 38 minute flight the coffee can wait until Seattle. We had about a 90 minute layover, so we went to breakfast. We ate at SEA SMITH COVE BAR, the food was descent for airport food and the coffee was strong. The food came in to-go containers which made it easy to take leftovers onto the plane. Our flight from Seattle to Kauai was on time but one for the books. We had mild turbulence the whole 6.5 hours, so only one drink service was given. I ordered a green tea with cream; and before the cart even moved past us my tea got spilled all over my lap by the person in front of me. This happened 2 hours into the flight, my pants were soaked the rest of the time. The flight attendants were overly nice, and even offered us a ton of air miles for the inconvenience. Ayla did great on the flight, slept for the first 3 hours and then drew or ate for the remainder of the flight – growing girl.
Once in Kauai we went right to our condo to request early check. While we waited for our room we walked the resort grounds and went swimming. Once in our room, we enjoyed an early dinner on our lanai and we were all asleep by 7pm. It was a good first night.
